Review: Je Joue Mimi Soft

The Mimi Soft is one of the toys I got interested in years ago and just never had a chance to try for myself until recently. It is in no way a new or revolutionary toy to hit the market. In fact, as far as vibes go, this external toy is pretty…basic.

However, unless you’re spoiled with a massive collection of sex toys or are a “power queen” who can’t get off with lower-level vibrations, it’s a pretty solid design for someone who is looking for a dependable “basic” vibrator.

Design

The Mimi Soft is a sleek external toy that easily fits in the palm of your hand. It can be used in a variety of ways based on how you hold or position it. The width of it can be used for broad vibrations, while the edge or soft tip can be used for more pinpoint stimulation.

While some reviewers have raved about the soft tip, it wasn’t exactly what I expected. It wasn’t soft enough to really impress me with plush comfort, but it also seemed to take away from the vibration intensity. For someone who usually prefers firmness in toys, especially for vibrations you can apply pressure to, it wasn’t a huge hit with me.

On the base of the Mimi Soft are three buttons: one for increasing speed, one for decreasing it, and one for cycling through the patterns. This is a notable upgrade from the Mimi Classic. The addition of a third button is a godsend for people like me, who need that steady vibration to get off. By adding a third button for patterns, there’s no risk of going past the highest steady setting and accidentally going into the patterns. This is a constant annoyance with some other toys, so I’m very grateful for this addition to the original design.

However, as much as I appreciate the third button, it doesn’t help that all the buttons are a bit difficult to press. They’re small, finicky, and a real pain to try to press in the midst of a passionate moment with myself. This becomes a bit of a disappointment for anyone who doesn’t have a “set it and forget it” approach to their masturbation habits.

Features

With five vibration speeds and patterns, the Mimi Soft manages to provide a range of sensations to users without the annoyance of trying to cram 12 indistinguishable vibration patterns into one toy. The vibrations are decent, but I found them to be too low to work for my body. As a self-identified power-queen, this isn’t surprising in the least. If lower or moderately intense vibrations work fine for you and you don’t find yourself always wishing your toys went higher, the Mimi Soft should work just fine.

In addition to its multiple speeds and patterns, the Mimi Soft is rechargeable and completely waterproof. You’re able to take it into the shower, tub, or pool for some added fun if you’re so inclined. The included USB charging cord makes it very simply to charge up and take traveling. Its discreet size makes it very easy to throw in your purse or suitcase and bring with you wherever you need to go.

Care & Cleaning

Because the Mimi Soft is made of silicone and is waterproof, cleaning it is incredibly easy. If you’re not sharing this toy with anyone, a little soap and water is all you’ll ever need to clean it. If you are sharing the Mimi Soft, it can be easily sanitized by soaking it in a 10% bleach solution between washing it by hand.

Since the Mimi Soft is silicone, you’re going to want to use only water-based lubes with it.

Conclusion

The Mimi Soft is one of those toys I coveted years ago when it first came out and I never really got over it. I think I built it up so much in my head that it was just a big disappointment for me, unfortunately. By the time I got my hands on one for myself, I had already experienced much more powerful toys and the vibrations of the Mimi Soft just don’t compare. Keep in mind that I say this as someone who has yet to find a vibrator too intense for my clitoris of steel. If you’re someone who enjoys low to moderately intense vibrations, the Mimi Soft isn’t a badly designed toy and could be very enjoyable to someone with a more sensitive clit. Its motor just doesn’t compare to the caliber of toys I’m used to at this point.
