Review: Uberrime Ripley

When I unboxed the Ripley Alien Dildo by Uberrime I may have audibly gasped. It was larger than I expected, though not too intimidating, and had a really attractive texture to it. The color was stunning. Swirls of blue and green made it bright and whimsical. My boyfriend, upon seeing it, exclaimed, “It’s like if the Earth had a dick!” And, honestly, he’s not wrong.

Ripley measures in at 9” (with 6.5 of those being insertable), but it was a great fit for me. It obviously isn’t a starter dildo by any means, but it wasn’t difficult to get myself accustomed to.

Texture

Ripley’s large balls and textured shaft gives this dildo so much character, but I don’t know if I would call it alien-like (as if I have a reference for that). It felt more “merman-like” to me, but this was anything but a disappointment.

The notches, almost spine-like, run from the base of the toy to the tip on the underside of the shaft. In addition to that pronounced texture, there are some more subtle waves coming from the base that resemble large veins. The “spine” of the shaft feels amazing during penetration, but I don’t really notice the veiny texture during use. However, I wouldn’t say that I’m overly sensitive to texture in toys so if you are and don’t enjoy a lot of texture, this may not be for you. If you enjoy some bumps and ridges, however, this is certainly a unique feature of having that “spine” underside.

Ripley’s head has interesting texture as well. It feels much like a circumcised penis, but has another bump below the head that almost implies a secondary ridge to the head of the penis. It feels great during penetration and definitely adds to the “alien” element, if that’s your thing.

The texture of the silicone itself is also really interesting to me. It is firm enough to penetrate with ease but still has that comfy “squish” factor I love in silicone toys. I do prefer my toys on the firmer side and if I could change one thing about Ripley, I’d just make it a tad firmer. However, I wasn’t met with a “floppiness” issue that made it difficult to use, which I have seen with many other fantasy dildo makers.

Cleaning & Safety

Because Ripley is made of 100% silicone, it is easy to clean by hand-washing with soap and warm water. However, if you’re sharing this toy with others or going from anal to vaginal use, it will need a deeper clean. Simply throw it in the top rack of your dishwasher (empty, with no detergent) on the sanitize setting, boil for ten minutes, or soak in a 10% bleach solution.

Because of the wide base and balls, Ripley is totally safe to use anally–just make sure you take extra care in washing it before it is used on someone else or vaginally.

However, due to the balls at the base, Ripley is listed as NOT harness-compatible. I haven’t given it a shot yet, but I think in the right harness, it might be doable. However, keep in mind that it’s not recommended for this toy if you’re looking to use it for strap-on sex.

Conclusion

Ripley is not only a glorious work of art to look at, but an interesting toy I’m happy to have join my collection. While I don’t have a kink for aliens, I found its unique texture very pleasurable. Uberrime is not a company to ever make boring-looking toys, but the coloring and exciting texture of Ripley really impressed me. As this is my first toy from them, I’m excited to try more. How much weirder can my fantasy dildo collection get?

The Ripley Alien Dildo was provided to me by SheVibe in exchange for my honest review.
