Review: Split Peaches Unicorn Horn Silicone Dildo

I totally buy into the unicorn craze. Last year, Starbucks came out with a super colorful unicorn frappuccino that went viral. Target stores recently started selling unicorn ice cream and I’m buying it with no shame. I even threw a box of unicorn cereal in the cart at the grocery store because I’m an adult who makes her own decisions. Listen—I have a unicorn tattoo. There’s just something so irresistibly cute and whimsical about unicorns, so when I saw Split Peaches had made unicorn horn dildos, I needed one immediately.

I opted for the pearlescent white horn, although they also have bright rainbow, pastel rainbow, and a dark version. Call me old fashioned, but the pearlescent white seemed as realistic as you can get and we all know that’s my main priority with a toy like this. It has a little bit of colored shine/shimmer to it, but it’s subtle. For safety reasons, avoid adding your own glitter.

Sizing

I decided on the medium size, because the widest part is slightly above my comfort zone. With a maximum diameter of 2 inches and an insertable length of over 7 inches, it looked a little too big at first. However, I really couldn’t be intimidated by something so cute, so I gave it my all. To my surprise, working up to the thickness at the base was surprisingly easy. The whole dildo is tapered–ideal for painless stretching. For this reason, I absolutely urge you to size up if you don’t experience any pain during usual penetration. The sensation of effortlessly working up to that size was–dare I say–magical.

If that sounds too large for you, the smaller version measures 5.25 inches of insertable length and 1.5 inches diameter at the widest point. If you prefer a challenge, the large goes up to a whopping 10 inches long and 2.75 inches in diameter at the widest point.

Cleaning

Because the toy is 100% silicone, it’s very easy to clean. I thought the texture of the horn would make it more difficult than my usual toys, but the silicone is so smooth and flawless that it really is quite simple to clean. In between regular uses, I hand-wash it with antibacterial soap and warm water. If you’re using this majestic beast for anal (which is totally safe due to the wide base) or sharing with a partner, just be sure to sterilize it in boiling water for ten minutes, soak in a 10% bleach solution, or use your dishwasher’s sanitize setting on the top shelf without detergent.

Conclusion

If I’m being completely honest, I originally wanted this gorgeous dildo for the pure novelty of it. I have a varied collection of sex toys and a unicorn horn was exactly what I was missing. However, the tapered design and above-average size of this mythical toy makes it a really great addition to my usual toy rotation.
