Who can resist a stop at an erotic bakery? During a Sex Tour day-trip in the Boston area, my best friend and I decided to pop into Sweet N’ Nasty for a treat. Equipped with very little baking experience, Novak opened her first shop in the early ’80s. Mostly self-taught, she learned from her failures along the way to create the popular space she now owns. With several locations over the years, she has been met with opposition in the community. However, she currently owns a space on Massachusetts Avenue by Newbury Street where she now has the freedom to express her creative baking passion as she pleases. She makes custom cakes, cupcakes, and chocolates–all strictly for adults.
Popular for their custom cakes adorned with genital-shaped chocolates, you can see why Sweet N’ Nasty isn’t your typical bakery. They specialize in bachelorette and baby shower cakes, but they’ll make almost anything your heart desires. Why not get a marijuana-themed cake for your brother’s birthday? Best friend about to have her first child? Surprise her with a cake depicting the bundle of joy emerging from a chocolate vagina, covered in glazed strawberries. Although it may be more hilarious than it is appetizing, they’re actually quite delicious!
If you’re not looking for a whole cake, you can always walk in for a cupcake or two, featuring some of the same themes you can get on a full cake. Chocolate penises, vaginas, and breasts make a excellent cupcake toppers. In addition to cupcakes, Sweet N’ Nasty also offers chocolate-covered treats like pretzels and Oreos. Having tried a cupcake each, my friend and I agreed both their chocolate and vanilla cupcakes were rich and sweet.While I found the “bakery” aspect of Sweet N’ Nasty to be a little overshadowed by the novelties and gifts around the shop, the real highlight was the wall of molded chocolates. Genitals of all kinds are available in edible forms. The options to choose from are plentiful–and they’re all available in diverse skin tones!
Sweet N’ Nasty offers tamer treats like chocolate butt lollipops or a single chocolate breast. Their most explicit ones include penis pacifiers, lollipops that have the words “Let’s Fuck!” on them, and even a chocolate mold of two hogs doin’ the dirty. All their creations are available in dark, milk, or white chocolate. There’s something for everyone who enjoys a sinful treat.
As with any erotic retailer, you’re going to want to go in with a sense of humor. The shop caters to hard-working professionals and excited young bridesmaids alike, but not the easily offended. Whoever you are, you have to be able to appreciate the fact that some of the chocolate dicks are creme-filled. Sweet N’ Nasty truly is a wonderful experience for mature (and immature) adults.
